Pistol Pete is the mascot for Oklahoma State University and his costume features cowboy attire and a Frank Eaton likeness headpiece. He has been the official mascot for OSU since 1958 and licensed by the school in 1984. Each year, an average of 15 Oklahoma State students audition to portray Pistol Pete. A panel of former Petes conduct the tryouts and select two replacements based largely on an interview.
