Are you tired of explaining to your peers that there really is a school called Towson U? Let them know you're from the second largest university in the state of Maryland. That your current mascot Doc the Tiger was championed by a MLB GM back in the 60's. That before the 1960s, the name of the sports teams at Towson were known as the "Golden Knights". A Towson student, John Schuerholz pushed for a new mascot, along with Lou Winkelman (actually the first Tiger mascot), and the tiger was officially adopted in 1962. Schuerholz later became general manager of the Atlanta Braves and is currently the team's President.
