The Family Chevy

Ah, take me back to that classic 58 Chevy Impala and those infamous triple round tail lights that found a way to marry up so nicely with the 59 Caddy bullets later on?!!

My father was a Chevy Man forever.  He had a couple of 48's, a powder blue 51, followed by a dark blue 54 two door couple.  Classic.  He also had a gold and beige 56 two door ( looks like brown and kind of cream colored ).  Vintage ride.  Next came a buttugly grey 1960 Bel Air 4 door with black walls and those tiny little hubcaps that came off every 100 miles.  Oooooffff.......  He made a huge comeback a couple years later with a fire engine red 62 Impala coupe, which really rocked.

Sadly, Old Dad bought nearly all of these new, and traded in each one for the next, until he wound up with his golden prize, that 4 door Tan 65 Impala with those darn little hubcaps again and a miserable little 283.  Of course it was an automatic.  I burned up his transmission in that one doing "neutral rams" on Woodward!!!  For all those great cars, he wound up with duds.  How often I have wondered how cool I might be had I been able to latch onto one of those early ones!  Do you remember the hidden gas tank in the taillight and the great round Chevy Clock in those early ones?  Yeah!
One of my own personal favorite vehicles was a 65 Chevy Impala Wagon.  It was dark burgundy with a 327, 4 barrel, dual exhaust with glass packs, big tires with mags, air shocks in back to raise it up a little.  It had an eight foot bed with the seat down, and would carry anything.  Even had an official Chevrolet license plate.  It was sweet.  Sadly, my wife, who is barely 5 foot tall and couldn't see out the back very well, literally backed over the front end of a Mustang in the Post Office parking lot one day.  She didn't like the car much after that.  I still miss it!

Well, I remain a Chevy fan and do all I can to add to my collection of rockin' Chevrolet merchandise.  I have recently found a nice site that has a ton of cool Chevrolet stuff.  You can grab some nice Chevrolet decals or flootmats or keychains.  Also some classic Chevrolet seat covers to dress up whatever Impala you're driving these days.  Whether you're crusing the Dream Cruise in your new Camaro or a classic 57, drop on by and dress things up a little more!  You can never have enough Chevy Stuff.  I keep hinting to my wife about Christmas Chevrolet Gifts.....
