Well here we are again, ready to kick off Spring Training 2010, and wondering what the YANKEES will do this season.  As the defending WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, what DO you do for an encore?  Win another one of course!!!  When you’ve been to the Big Dance 40 times ( out of 105 Series – I mean that’s almost 40% of the total number of World Series!!!! ), and won 27 of those ( let’s see – that’s a .675 winning percentage!!! ), what the heck!  Sadly, the second best team at getting into the series has done it 18 times.  We’ve won it half again as many times.  And those stinkin’ Dodgers only won 6 of those 18……… HAH! 

This is a team that has retired 15 players numbers, including all-stars Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Thurmond Munson, Whitey Ford, Casey Stengel, and Reggie Jackson!  The only single digit players number left is 2.  They may be the first ball club to have players with a 3 digit number!!  The number of big time home run hitters is awesome.  They have held the record for most home runs in a season with 2 different guys, most life time homers, most consecutive games hit safely, most consecutive games played, ONLY perfect game in a World Series, several of the longest home runs ever hit, it just goes on and on.  There just simply is not another team that can come close to comparing.  And we haven’t even begun to talk about the current batch of champions!!!  You don’t want to even get me started!!!
