In searching through images for my heroine Betty Boop, I have to admit this one made me laugh. We can only hope she still looks the same, and NOTHING like the pic above!!

Started by Betty "Boop" Cipriano, the Betty Boop's Crochet Group spent over 15 hours knitting and crocheting 10 American flag afghans for a group of Wayne County, Pennsylvania's veterans. This group meets once a week for two hours to knit and crochet. Their creations not only go to their local veterans, but they also send their afghans to the Veterans Hospital and to local people in need.
Did you ever wonder why we have so many problems with Afghanis? It doesn't make sense that we should be fighting in a country with a name that is the same as a warm and cozy cover we put over ourselves on a cold winter evening. Maybe we should take up the Betty Boop mantra and start sending afghans to Afghanistan. Their country is mountainous and cold. I am sure they could use some nice, warm afghans. Once they knew how we dignified their name, I am sure all hostilities would stop. Just give me a few minutes with the Taliban leaders. I will tell them how my Grandmother crocheted me an afghan in my college colors. I still have it today - 40 years later. Once I put that afghan over their shoulders, they would know that all Americans love Afghans. If that didn't convince them, we could can the Tea Parties and have Betty Boop parties all over the USA making afghans for the Afghans. They would appreciate it and maybe the tone of discourse in our country would get more civil. You can yell at someone and crochet or knit correctly for two whole hours. Maybe this is a small solution to our enormous problem.
